Microsoft to Cut 650 Jobs in Xbox Games Division Amid Cost-Cutting Measures

Microsoft Corp. is set to eliminate 650 jobs in its Xbox division, marking the third round of layoffs this year as the company seeks to reduce costs. This move comes as part of Microsoft’s efforts to streamline operations following its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard Inc.

According to a memo from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, the layoffs will primarily affect corporate and support roles. However, Spencer reassured employees that no games, devices, or studios would be impacted by these changes. The cuts reflect ongoing adjustments as Microsoft integrates its recent acquisition.
